Know who raised the puppy and who is making the agreement
Ask where this puppy lives, who raised the litter and who will appear on the agreement. Request a current conversation and a look at the puppy’s environment, whether through an agreed visit or a suitable live update. Ask about the mother, daily handling, observed behavior and any concerns. A pleasant conversation becomes more useful when the records and written terms match it.
Read the actual payment, reservation, cancellation and handoff terms before committing. A breeder, reseller, pet shop or shelter can involve different arrangements. Resolve missing pages and unclear responsibilities rather than assuming every transaction has the same protections.
Separate puppy care records, parent screening and travel documents
Match the puppy’s identity and birth date across its examination, vaccination and treatment records. Request disclosed concerns and the identified parents’ screening reports, including dates, results and limitations. A puppy examination, parent screening and an interstate certificate answer different questions; none guarantees lifelong health.
