First questions

Getting Started

What breeds does Sage Puppies raise?

Sage Puppies raises Havanese, Havapoo, and Cavapoo puppies. These small companion breeds are selected for families who want a loving, people-focused dog with a manageable size and a warm home temperament.

Where is Sage Puppies located?

Sage Puppies is based in South Jordan, Utah, serving families in the Salt Lake City area, throughout Utah, and across the country through coordinated delivery.

Do you work with families outside Utah?

Yes. Sage Puppies works with families nationally as well as locally. About 85% of placements are with families outside the local area through delivery, while about 15% are with local families who pick up in Utah.

What is the best first step?

Start with Available Puppies if you are hoping to bring a puppy home soon. If timing matters more than a specific puppy, review How It Works, then submit the application so we can learn about your home, preferences, and timeline.

Do I need to apply before choosing a puppy?

Applying first is usually the cleanest path. The application helps us understand your lifestyle, timing, home environment, breed preferences, and what kind of personality may be a thoughtful match.

Puppies & timing

Availability & Waitlist

Do you have puppies available now?

The most accurate place to check is the Available Puppies page. Status can change as families apply, ask questions, reserve, or wait for the right timing.

What if no puppies are currently available?

If no puppies are currently available, you can still submit an application to join the waitlist or ask about upcoming litters. You can also review Upcoming Litters for expected timing when available.

How do I join the waitlist?

Complete the puppy application and share your preferred breed, timing, sex, size, coat, color, and personality notes. The more clearly you describe your home and goals, the easier it is to guide you toward a good fit.

Can I request a specific color, sex, or size?

Yes, you may share preferences for sex, color, coat, and estimated adult size. Those preferences are helpful, but temperament, timing, and overall fit should stay central when choosing.

How do I know which puppy is right for my family?

We encourage families to think beyond looks alone. The right puppy should fit your home, schedule, activity level, children or other pets, grooming expectations, and training capacity. The application helps guide that conversation.

Before you reserve

Clarity first, then next steps.

The best reservation experience is simple: understand availability, confirm fit, review written details, then move forward only when the timing and expectations are clear.

Pricing & Reservation

How do I apply for a Sage Puppies puppy?

Submit the puppy application with your contact details, preferred breed, timing, home setup, family needs, and what you are hoping for in a puppy. After reviewing your application, we can help with next steps.

How does the reservation process work?

The usual path is: view puppies or upcoming litters, submit an application, discuss fit and timing, review written reservation details, then follow the next steps provided for that puppy or litter. For a more complete overview, visit How It Works.

How much are Sage Puppies puppies?

Current pricing and reservation details should be reviewed on the Pricing & Reservation page or on the individual listing when available. Pricing may depend on the puppy, litter, breed, timing, and included go-home details.

Is a deposit required to reserve a puppy?

A reservation may require a deposit or other written next step. Always review the current Pricing & Reservation details before making a payment so you understand what is being reserved, what the timeline is, and what terms apply.

Is the deposit refundable?

Deposit terms should be reviewed in writing before you reserve. If you have any question about refundability, transfers, timing, or what happens if your plans change, ask before placing a deposit.

Can I schedule a call before applying?

Yes, if you have specific questions before applying, you can visit the Contact page or use the available call scheduling option if it is open. If you already know you are seriously interested, the application is usually the most helpful first step.

Breed fit

Choose for temperament, not only looks.

A beautiful coat matters less than a thoughtful match. Think about energy, grooming, family rhythm, children, other pets, training time, and the kind of companion you want in your home.

Choosing a breed

Breed Fit

How do I choose between a Havanese, Havapoo, and Cavapoo?

Start with your lifestyle. Havanese are small companion dogs known for affectionate, people-focused personalities. Havapoos combine Havanese and Poodle traits. Cavapoos combine Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle traits. Review each breed page, then apply so we can help think through fit.

Are these breeds good family dogs?

Havanese, Havapoo, and Cavapoo puppies can be wonderful family companions when the dog’s temperament, the family’s expectations, and the home environment are a good match. Children should always be taught gentle handling, respectful boundaries, and calm routines.

Are Sage Puppies good for apartment or condo living?

Many small companion breeds can do well in apartments or condos when they receive daily interaction, age-appropriate exercise, enrichment, grooming, and consistent training. A good fit depends on your schedule, noise tolerance, potty routine, and willingness to build structure.

Are Havanese, Havapoo, or Cavapoo puppies hypoallergenic?

No dog is guaranteed to be completely hypoallergenic. Havanese and Poodle-influenced mixes may be better tolerated by some allergy-conscious families, but reactions vary by person and by dog. Families with allergies should do their own research and speak with a medical professional when needed.

How big will my puppy get?

Estimated adult size depends on the breed, parents, and individual puppy. When available, each profile should include a size estimate or expected range to help families understand what to expect.

How much grooming do these breeds need?

Havanese, Havapoo, and Cavapoo coats require regular brushing and routine professional grooming. Families should plan for coat care, ear care, nail trims, and a grooming schedule that keeps the dog comfortable and mat-free.

Early care

Ask about the exact puppy or litter.

Health notes, records, timing, and go-home details should always match the specific puppy, parent pairing, or litter you are considering.

Care before go-home

Health & Early Development

What does Sage Puppies focus on before puppies go home?

Sage Puppies focuses on thoughtful breed pairings, early handling, family-centered socialization, and clear communication with families. The goal is to help each puppy begin life with a steady foundation before transitioning into a new home.

Are the parent dogs health tested?

For parent-dog and health testing details, review the Health Testing page and ask about the specific pairing connected to the puppy or litter you are considering. Health information should match the visible parent, puppy, or litter details provided.

Will my puppy see a vet before going home?

Each puppy’s current vet care, wellness notes, and go-home records should be reviewed before pickup or delivery. If you are considering a specific puppy, ask for the exact health and vet details connected to that puppy.

Do puppies come with vaccinations or deworming?

Age-appropriate health details should be provided with each puppy’s go-home information. Because timing can vary by puppy and go-home age, review the specific records for the puppy you are reserving.

Do puppies start crate training or potty training?

Puppies may begin age-appropriate foundations before going home, but a young puppy should not be expected to arrive fully crate trained or fully potty trained. Families should plan to continue structure, consistency, and patient training from the first day home.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Any health guarantee, contract, or written policy should be reviewed before reservation. Do not rely on assumptions; ask for the current written terms connected to your puppy, litter, and reservation.

Go-home planning

Preparation begins before pickup or delivery.

Families should confirm supplies, first-vet timing, food transition details, safe spaces, potty routines, and travel plans before go-home day.

National and local options

Delivery & Pickup

Do you offer puppy delivery?

Yes. Many Sage Puppies families live outside Utah, and delivery is an important part of the program. Delivery timing, cost, safety, handoff details, and availability should be reviewed before reservation. Start with the Delivery & Pickup page.

Can I pick up my puppy in Utah?

Yes. Local pickup may be available for Utah families or families traveling to the Salt Lake City area. Pickup is coordinated around puppy readiness, schedule, safety, and go-home timing.

How do you decide between delivery and pickup?

The best option depends on your location, the puppy’s go-home timing, travel logistics, and the safest transition plan. National families often choose delivery, while local Utah families may prefer pickup.

When can my puppy go home?

Go-home timing depends on the puppy’s age, development, readiness, vet care, and schedule coordination. Each available puppy or litter should include a go-home date or estimated go-home window when available.

Do you send updates before go-home?

Update timing and format may vary by litter, puppy age, and schedule. If updates are important to you, ask what to expect when you reserve or join a waitlist.

After reservation

Bringing Puppy Home

What should I buy before my puppy comes home?

Most families should prepare a crate, exercise pen or safe puppy area, food and water bowls, collar or harness, leash, grooming brush, safe chew toys, cleaning supplies, and a plan for potty breaks. For more support, visit Puppy Prep.

What food should my puppy eat?

Food details should be confirmed before go-home so you can keep the transition gentle. Sudden food changes can upset a puppy’s stomach, so any diet change should be gradual and discussed with your veterinarian when needed.

How soon should I schedule a vet visit?

Most families should plan a wellness visit with their own veterinarian shortly after go-home. Confirm the recommended timing in your puppy’s go-home details and with your veterinary clinic. For general guidance on choosing a veterinarian, you can also review the AVMA pet owner resource.

Can a puppy be a surprise gift?

A puppy should not be treated like a casual surprise. The primary caregiver should be involved in the decision, application, timing, and preparation so the puppy enters a ready, stable home.

Do you offer support after my puppy goes home?

Sage Puppies aims to set families up with clear next steps and a thoughtful transition. Ask what support, resources, and go-home guidance are included with your specific puppy or litter.

What should I do next if I am interested?

If you are ready to move forward, view Available Puppies or submit the puppy application. If you are still comparing options, review Pricing & Reservation, How It Works, Delivery & Pickup, and Reviews.

Important: Puppy availability, timing, reservation steps, delivery options, and written policies can change by puppy or litter. Always review the current details before placing a deposit or making travel plans.
