Our Program / Matchmaking
Choose the right puppy with matchmaking that prioritizes fit, not first pick.
Based in South Jordan, Utah, Sage Puppies is a boutique puppy breeder helping local and national families choose the right Havanese, Havapoo, or Cavapoo puppy for their home, lifestyle, timing, and expectations.
Choose the right puppy
How to choose the right puppy without guessing.
The best match is not always the puppy who catches your eye first. A thoughtful choice considers temperament, confidence, handling response, coat care, size expectations, and whether your home can support the puppy’s daily needs.
- Watch for recovery, curiosity, and people-focus instead of judging from one photo.
- Match energy level to your real schedule, not your ideal weekend schedule.
- Ask how grooming, training, pickup, or delivery will work before reserving.

Why matchmaking matters
The best puppy choice is the one your future self can live with.
Photos help you fall in love. Matchmaking helps you choose wisely. We consider lifestyle, household rhythm, children, other pets, grooming expectations, training goals, and travel plans before helping you move toward a puppy.
Personality over impulse
A calm snuggler, playful shadow, confident explorer, or softer companion can all be wonderful — but not every puppy is the best fit for every family.
Guidance over guesswork
We share what we observe as puppies grow so you can make a more informed choice instead of relying on one photo, one video, or one early moment.
Long-term fit
The goal is not simply getting a puppy home. The goal is helping you welcome a puppy who can thrive in your family, schedule, and environment.
Our process
How Sage Puppies matchmaking works.
Our process is personal, practical, and designed to protect both the puppy and the family. We want you to feel informed before reserving and supported before go-home day.
Your application helps us understand your timeline, breed interest, household, schedule, experience, children, pets, and what you hope life with your puppy will feel like.
Young puppies change quickly. As they mature, we watch for confidence, people-focus, play style, sensitivity, independence, recovery, and overall temperament.
When puppies are ready for selection, we help you compare available options and explain which puppy may fit your family best — and why.
After a match is confirmed, we guide reservation, go-home timing, delivery or pickup details, and the practical next steps before your puppy joins your family.
What we consider
A thoughtful match looks at the whole home.
Puppy matchmaking is not a quiz with one perfect answer. It is a careful conversation about what will help your puppy succeed and what will make puppyhood feel realistic for you.
Busy family, quiet home, remote work, frequent travel, school schedules, and daily structure all influence which puppy may settle in best.
We consider ages of children, other dogs, cats, visiting grandchildren, and the amount of supervision and routine your puppy will have.
Some families want a playful companion for activities. Others want a softer, lower-key puppy for a calmer lifestyle. Both can be wonderful fits.
Havanese, Havapoo, and Cavapoo coats vary. We help families think through brushing, grooming appointments, shedding expectations, and coat maintenance.
Crate comfort, potty routines, confidence, socialization, leash manners, and family rules all matter more when your puppy comes home.
About 85% of Sage Puppies families are served nationally through delivery, while about 15% pick up locally in Utah. We plan the transition carefully either way.
Breed fit
Not sure which Sage Puppies breed fits you best?
Breed can guide the conversation, but individual temperament still matters. These summaries are a starting point for families considering Havanese, Havapoo, or Cavapoo puppies.

A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle mix often chosen by families wanting a sweet, social, affectionate puppy with a soft, family-friendly presence.
Learn about Cavapoo →No puppy or breed can be guaranteed hypoallergenic. Coat type, shedding, and allergy response can vary by individual dog and by person. If allergies are a concern, tell us early so we can talk through realistic expectations before you apply or reserve.
Fit matters
A beautiful match should feel clear, not pressured.
Our role is to help you move forward confidently. Sometimes that means recommending a specific puppy. Sometimes it means waiting for a future litter.
A strong fit may look like:
- Your lifestyle aligns with the puppy’s observed temperament and energy.
- You understand the grooming, training, and daily care needs.
- Your timeline works with the puppy’s expected go-home window.
- You feel comfortable with the reservation process and next steps.
- The puppy has a realistic plan for supervision, sleep, potty training, and socialization.
We may recommend waiting if:
- Your timeline is not ready for the demands of early puppyhood.
- The available puppies do not match your household needs.
- Your breed, coat, size, or temperament preferences are very specific.
- A future litter may offer a better match for your family.
- There are concerns we should discuss before a reservation is accepted.
National delivery + Utah pickup
Your match can begin in Utah and come home through coordinated pickup or delivery.
Sage Puppies is based in South Jordan, Utah. Many local families choose pickup, while most families live outside Utah and use coordinated puppy delivery. Either way, we help you understand timing, handoff details, puppy comfort, and what to prepare before go-home day.
Most Sage Puppies families are served nationally through delivery. Matchmaking helps make distance feel less uncertain by giving you clear communication before reservation.
Local families may pick up in the South Jordan and Salt Lake City area when timing and logistics are confirmed.
- We discuss go-home timing before finalizing plans.
- We help you prepare supplies, schedule, and first-night expectations.
- We keep the puppy’s comfort and safety central to the transition.

Questions families ask
Puppy matchmaking FAQ.
These answers are designed to help you understand how we guide puppy selection and what to expect before applying.
Can I choose a puppy based on photos?
Photos are helpful, but they are only one piece of the decision. We encourage families to consider temperament, household fit, grooming expectations, energy level, and timing before choosing a puppy.
Do you choose the puppy for me?
We guide the match; we do not want families to feel forced. Our role is to share what we are observing, explain which puppies may fit your home best, and help you make a confident decision.
Do you guarantee a puppy’s adult personality?
No breeder can guarantee adult temperament because development is shaped by genetics, early care, training, environment, consistency, and life experiences. We share our observations and guidance to help you make a thoughtful, realistic choice.
When does puppy selection usually happen?
Selection timing depends on the litter, puppy development, reservation order, and whether puppies are currently available. We will explain timing clearly during the application and reservation process.
Can you help if I live outside Utah?
Yes. Sage Puppies is based in South Jordan, Utah, and many families live outside the state. We discuss delivery options, timing, communication, and go-home preparation so the transition feels clear and organized.
Which breeds do you offer?
Sage Puppies focuses on Havanese, Havapoo, and Cavapoo puppies. If you are unsure which breed is the best fit, the matchmaking process can help you compare temperament, coat care, size expectations, and family lifestyle.
Share your home, timeline, breed interest, and ideal companion. We will use that information to guide a thoughtful next step.
