A thoughtful buyer's checklist
New York City Puppies for Sale: What to Check Before Reserving
A beautiful photo can start your search, but a reservation deserves better questions. Sage Puppies, founded by Cassie Milar, raises Havanese, Havapoo, and Cavapoo puppies in South Jordan, Utah. We do not breed or house puppies in New York City and have no NYC kennel, storefront, or office.
Use this guide to evaluate any program, including ours, before you commit. Start with the current puppy profiles, then verify the individual, the terms, and the plan to bring your puppy home.

Before a reservation
New York City Puppies for Sale: Verify the Listing First
Ask who raised the puppy, where the puppy lives, and whether the photographs and description belong to that individual. A seller's city label in a search result does not establish the puppy's location.
For Sage Puppies, the breeding program is in Utah. Read How It Works and Reviews, then ask Cassie about the particular puppy you are considering. Photos in this article are not live inventory.

The Federal Trade Commission warns about fake puppy ads that use appealing photos and pressure buyers to pay quickly. Take time to check the seller's identity, the individual puppy, and the written terms before sending money.
Five questions worth asking
What to confirm before you reserve
1. Which puppy is this?
Ask for the puppy's current status, age, identifying details, and which photos and updates apply to that puppy. Discuss what is known about the individual temperament and daily routine. A breed description cannot answer every puppy-specific question.
2. What do you know about the parents?
Ask who the parents are and what documentation the program can share about them and the puppy. For a mix, ask about both sides of the parentage. The Havanese, Havapoo, and Cavapoo pages help frame breed questions; an individual puppy may differ from general descriptions.
3. What records will be provided?
Ask what puppy-specific veterinary and care records exist, when they will be shared, and whom you may contact with questions before the handoff. Request clear answers in writing rather than assuming a photograph or a general program statement covers the individual.
4. What exactly are the terms?
Read the written reservation agreement. Confirm the price for the puppy, what a payment secures, deadlines, changes, cancellation terms, and any separately quoted travel cost. Start with Sage Puppies' Pricing & Reservation page, then ask for the terms that apply to your situation.
5. How will the puppy get home?
Ask who will coordinate the handoff, what timing is realistic, and what happens if the plan must change. For an out-of-state program, include the full journey and cost in the decision. A promised date in an advertisement is not a substitute for an agreed plan.

Compare the actual options
A nearby program and a Utah program deserve the same questions
A program in one of New York City's five boroughs may offer a different visit or pickup arrangement than a program in another state. Long Island, Westchester, and New Jersey are nearby places, but they are not New York City. Verify each seller's actual location and what you can see or receive before reserving.
Compare the quality of puppy-specific information, parent and care records, written terms, communication, total cost, and the handoff plan. Ask each program what an in-person visit or remote review can include; do not assume either is offered. A shorter distance alone does not settle whether the puppy and program fit your family.
Make a workable arrival plan
Check your NYC logistics before you choose a date
Review your own building's pet rules and decide where the puppy can rest, where supplies will go, and who can handle short, frequent breaks around work and school. A walk-up, an elevator building, and a home with a private outdoor area call for different practical routines. Confirm the rules for your specific address instead of relying on a listing's broad “NYC friendly” claim.
If public transit will be part of the trip home, check the MTA pet travel rules and plan for an appropriate container. Review NYC dog licensing for after the puppy joins you, and arrange your own veterinarian. These preparations are your household plan, not an assurance of a particular delivery route or handoff point.
If Sage Puppies is on your shortlist
Ask for a puppy-specific conversation
Approximately 85% of Sage Puppies' puppies join families through national delivery and about 15% are picked up locally in Utah. Those figures describe the program's usual paths, not a promise for an NYC family. Delivery depends on the individual puppy, timing, route, weather, cost, and a plan agreed with Sage Puppies. Utah pickup is another option to discuss.
Read Delivery & Pickup alongside the current profile and written reservation terms. Then share your questions about the puppy, household, travel, and timing before applying.
Review Delivery & PickupBefore-you-reserve questions
What should I ask for before paying to reserve a puppy?
Confirm the puppy's identity and current status, what parent and puppy records can be shared, the written price and reservation terms, and the proposed handoff. Ask follow-up questions before sending payment.
How can I tell whether a photo shows the puppy being offered?
Ask the program to identify the puppy in the current listing and explain which photos or updates refer to that individual. The photographs in this guide are illustrative. They are not availability cards or proof that a pictured puppy can be reserved.
Does Sage Puppies have puppies or a kennel in New York City?
No. Cassie Milar's Havanese, Havapoo, and Cavapoo program is in South Jordan, Utah. There is no NYC kennel, storefront, or office. A New York City family can ask about a feasible delivery plan or Utah pickup for an individual puppy.
What if travel timing or cost changes?
Ask how a change would be handled under the applicable written terms before reserving. Delivery feasibility depends on the puppy, timing, route, weather, cost, and an agreed plan. This page does not quote travel or guarantee a date.
Can I reserve if the available page shows no suitable puppy?
Do not assume a puppy is available based on an old photograph. Check current profiles and apply or ask about future opportunities if you would like Sage Puppies to learn about your household.
