A San Francisco puppy plan should account for how your household actually gets around. Check Muni’s ordinary-pet restrictions, plan an alternative for important trips and discuss the individual puppy’s travel readiness with your receiving veterinarian. A small puppy and a carrier do not, by themselves, settle the boarding question.
Sage Puppies is Cassie Milar’s South Jordan, Utah program offering Havanese, Havapoo and Cavapoo. Start with Available Puppies, Pricing & Reservation and How It Works. General puppy purchase pricing is $3,500–$4,500; confirm the individual puppy’s price, timing and separate travel costs. Share your household’s routine and questions in the application.

Check time, space and fare before relying on Muni
SFMTA’s Animals on Muni page sets out the ordinary-pet policy. Pets may not ride during Monday–Friday peak periods of 5:00–9:00 a.m. and 3:00–7:00 p.m. During off-peak hours, only one pet per Muni vehicle is allowed. An off-peak departure therefore does not guarantee that your planned ride will work.
The published dog rules require a leash and muzzle, with the dog riding on the rider’s lap or under the seat. Owners or guardians must pay a pet fare equal to their own fare. Confirm the current requirements and how they apply to your planned arrangement with SFMTA. The page has separate wording for other pets in small closed containers; do not assume that a carrier creates an exception to the published dog rules.
For example, an 8 a.m. weekday trip falls within the stated morning restriction. A trip during an adult’s evening commute may also conflict with the pet policy. Work through those ordinary situations before relying on Muni for a scheduled appointment. This guide addresses ordinary pets; SFMTA describes its separate service-animal policy on the same page. Check each operator’s rules for any connecting service.
Arrange the handoff and a practical backup
Agree on the actual go-home arrangements with Cassie before planning the rest of the journey. Ask what travel and handling the particular puppy has experienced, what documents accompany it and who will communicate any changes. Do not assume a particular airport, carrier, route or arrival location.
Discuss suitable travel equipment, health considerations and exposure to shared settings with the receiving veterinarian. The agency sets boarding requirements; your veterinarian can help assess what is appropriate for this puppy. Neither a breed description nor an administrative rule establishes that an individual puppy is ready for a busy public trip.
Choose a verified alternative for an important journey, accounting for the adult who can help, the puppy and the supplies you need to carry. Check the actual transport provider’s pet policy and availability before depending on it. Build enough flexibility into the household’s plan to respond if a ride falls through or the puppy needs a different arrangement.
Keep licensing and medical readiness separate
The SF.gov Licensing for Dogs guidance states that all dogs over four months old must be licensed in San Francisco. Confirm the governing requirements for your actual address; this city requirement should not be treated as a rule for every Bay Area household.
Use the city’s Dog License service directory to find the issuing agency, San Francisco Animal Care & Control. Ask which current documents, fees and process apply to your dog and circumstances. Keep licensing questions separate from the veterinarian’s assessment of the puppy’s health and proposed exposure. A licensing age threshold is not medical clearance for public travel.
Keep the puppy’s identification, vaccination and other veterinary records organized so you can locate the document requested. Confirm the actual records rather than assuming that a general program description answers every question. Add any necessary follow-up to the household calendar and agree which adult will handle it.
Compare the three breeds through daily care
For a Havanese, ask about the individual puppy’s current routine and the coat care you will need to maintain. Consider who provides companionship, grooming and practical care when the usual household schedule changes.
For a Havapoo, confirm the particular puppy’s expected adult size, coat and grooming needs. A mix name does not give an exact adult result. Discuss how the estimate fits the space and handling your household can realistically provide.
For a Cavapoo, work through the same questions about care coverage, grooming and individual observations. Ask what has actually been seen in unfamiliar settings. No breed label guarantees that a dog will fit under a particular seat or remain calm on transit.
Connect the city plan to California homecoming preparation
The existing California buyer guide provides broader search context. Use the delivery-versus-pickup guide for the handoff conversation and the first-week checklist for preparation at home. Confirm current requirements for the actual journey rather than relying on a general example.
Add these San Francisco decisions to that preparation:
- Check the ordinary-pet policy for the day and time you expect to travel.
- Account for Muni’s off-peak pet limit, dog-handling requirements and pet fare.
- Confirm a practical alternative for an important trip before you need it.
- Discuss the individual puppy’s health, equipment and exposure with the receiving veterinarian.
- Check the city licensing route and assign any follow-up to an adult.
- Agree who covers daily care, grooming and appointments when plans change.
Bring the household plan to the next conversation
Review Sage’s health-testing information and family reviews, then ask about the actual puppy, records and arrangements relevant to your home. Describe the routine you can provide, including travel limitations and backup care.
When your questions are ready, see current puppies and apply. The useful goal is an individual match supported by a household plan that can work on an ordinary weekday.
