Washington Puppy Records: What to Read Before Homecoming

Read puppy records before booking the journey home. A useful file ties dated care and examination information to the same puppy, distinguishes parent testing from puppy care, and leaves time for a veterinarian to explain anything unclear.

Sage Puppies is Cassie Milar’s South Jordan, Utah program, founded in 2025, offering Havanese, Havapoo and Cavapoo puppies. General purchase pricing is $3,500–$4,500; confirm the individual price and supported arrangements with Cassie. Review current puppies and pricing and reservation. Travel and ongoing care are separate. Sage has no Washington facility.

Listings can change. Open the individual puppy’s profile for current details and discuss fit and supported homecoming arrangements with Cassie.

Match every record to the same puppy

Look for a consistent date of birth and name or identifier across the documents. Ask how a litter identifier relates to the puppy’s current name. If a microchip is recorded, check that the number is consistent; do not assume every puppy has one simply because a sample form includes a field.

Read the dated examination, vaccination, parasite-care and treatment entries that are available. Identify the clinic or professional responsible for relevant records and ask which care is due next. A mismatched date or identifier needs clarification before you rely on it. Your veterinarian can interpret medical details; a buyer should not diagnose health or readiness from a document alone.

Read parent reports beyond the headline

Ask which tests apply to each parent and request the actual identifiers, dates and results. A broad phrase such as “health tested” does not tell you which conditions were evaluated or what a result means for the pairing. Parent reports and the puppy’s examination record answer different questions.

The OFA CHIC program explains that a CHIC number reflects completion of its breed-specific protocol and public release of results at that point in time. It does not mean every result was normal or guarantee future health. Review the actual findings with your veterinarian. An absent database entry alone does not explain why information is missing. Sage’s health-testing information describes the program’s approach; confirm the reports relevant to the puppy you are considering.

Confirm the current Washington entry requirements

The baseline Washington entry rule addresses veterinary inspection certificates, identification and rabies vaccination, with age-dependent provisions and conditional exemptions. It also addresses heartworm testing or prevention for dogs six months and older. Do not assume every puppy needs every test, or that an existing-family-pet exemption applies to a new purchase.

Checked October 16, 2026: WSDA’s small-animal import page still displays an NWS emergency notice, while the June 17 rulemaking record lists an October 15 expiration. These inspected pages do not establish a later renewal. Have WSDA and the issuing veterinarian confirm the current requirements and document window for the actual puppy, origin, transit and entry date before booking.

That date conflict is a reason to confirm the current position, rather than copying a deadline from an older article. Neither a general health record nor a tentative travel date establishes entry eligibility or carrier acceptance. Ask which document format is accepted and who is responsible for providing it.

Keep the agreement separate from the medical record

Read the written purchase and reservation terms for the individual placement. Clarify price, payment timing, changes, refund provisions, any stated health coverage, notice requirements and the correct contact if circumstances change. Keep a copy of the version you reviewed.

A veterinary report records care or findings; it does not create a refund promise. Likewise, a reassuring sales conversation does not replace written terms. Ask qualified legal help about unclear terms or how a rule applies to the actual transaction. If a health concern arises, seek veterinary care promptly without waiting for a seller’s reply. Do not delay care while deciding which agreement provision may apply.

Build a small handoff file

Keep dated medical records, current food and routine notes, relevant parent reports and the agreement together. Include the confirmed receiving plan and the contact information the participants need. Keep an accessible copy for the journey and your first veterinary appointment rather than relying on a single message thread.

Agree who sends the documents, who checks them before departure and which adult receives the puppy. If timing changes, identify who reconfirms the plan. Use delivery and pickup information as the starting point for discussing arrangements; it does not establish a particular route, carrier, fee or departure date.

Resolve gaps before choosing a date

Ask one specific question at a time: “Which dated exam entry belongs to this puppy?” or “Can my veterinarian review the report behind that result?” Separate a clerical clarification from an unresolved medical question. If an important answer is missing, pause the commitment until the right person explains it.

The Washington buyer guide covers household and breed decisions; the matching guide helps turn the care information into a realistic routine. Review the process and apply when ready for a discussion. An application does not establish approval or reserve a puppy.
