A Dallas puppy plan needs more than a preferred breed and a go-home date. Decide who will handle ownership records, where early outdoor time can happen, and how you will reach appointments. Those practical choices help you judge the individual puppy’s fit. Sage Puppies is Cassie Milar’s South Jordan, Utah program offering Havanese, Havapoo and Cavapoo puppies.
Begin with current available puppies, then review pricing and reservation and the application. Sage’s general puppy purchase range is $3,500–$4,500; confirm the individual listing and written agreement. Travel and ongoing care are separate costs. Ask about current availability and fit before making travel commitments.
Confirm which city governs your address
Use your actual home address to check the local authority. A Dallas–Fort Worth search or mailing description does not establish that a home is within the City of Dallas. Nearby municipalities can have different requirements. Resolve rental, building or HOA pet permissions before committing to a puppy.
Walk through the everyday route from your front door to an appropriate potty area. Include elevators, stairs, entry doors and the time needed to gather supplies. Then name the person who can help during the longest workday or an unexpected delay. The plan should work on a busy Tuesday, not only on a quiet weekend.
Make the microchip and record handoff concrete
The Dallas Animal Services microchip FAQ says dogs and cats four months and older in the city must be microchipped and explains the replacement of the former registration system. It also directs owners to register the chip with its company and maintain current contact information.
Dallas City Code section 7-4.2 includes age, residency, medical and other provisions. It calls for contact-information changes and ownership changes to be updated with the microchip registration company within 30 days. The same code page separately addresses rabies certificates and tags.
Ask whether the particular puppy is already chipped. If so, request the number, registration company and transfer instructions, check whose contact details are recorded, and save confirmation after updating them. If not, discuss the plan and timing with the breeder and your veterinarian. Do not assume that every Sage puppy already has a chip. Direct questions about your circumstances to Dallas Animal Services and your veterinarian; keep the records together for the handoff.
Plan early outings separately from the dog park
Dallas Parks’ designated off-leash site rules prohibit food and treats for dogs or people. They require leashed entry and exit, current rabies tags, visual and voice control, removal at the first sign of aggression, and waste cleanup. Read the rules and current signs for the site you intend to use.
That matters when planning a puppy’s first experiences. Food-reward practice needs a suitable setting where treats are permitted; a busy off-leash area is a separate outing decision. Ask your veterinarian which low-traffic outdoor settings suit the puppy’s age, vaccination history and local exposure risks. Build the first days around manageable routines, rest and gentle introductions rather than a public dog-park visit.
Check DART transport before the appointment
In its dog-and-cat travel FAQ, DART says ordinary non-service pets may travel on its trains, buses and light rail when carried in an appropriate, securely latched cage or container. The rider is responsible for the animal’s care and supervision.
Check the actual service, journey and carrier before relying on transit for a veterinary or grooming appointment. Practice brief, calm carrier handling at home, check the closure and make sure you can manage the equipment. Name a backup ride if the arrangement is unsuitable or disrupted. A local transport plan is separate from the individual pickup or delivery arrangement you discuss with Sage.
Match the puppy to the care you can provide
Use the Havanese, Havapoo and Cavapoo guides to frame questions about companionship, coat care, activity and adult expectations. Then ask about the individual puppy’s observed temperament and the parent information available for that pairing. A breed label does not guarantee size, an allergy-free home or effortless training.
For broader care and preparation, reuse the DFW Havanese guide and DFW Cavapoo guide. They cover apartment routines, grooming, heat and homecoming. The Texas buyer guide and Texas breed-fit comparison provide the wider buying context.
Bring a practical checklist to the conversation
Review Sage’s health-testing information, early-development approach and family reviews. Ask which records apply to the particular puppy and parents. Read the agreement and delivery and pickup information before booking travel.
- Confirm your city authority and housing permission.
- Ask about the puppy’s chip, record transfer and veterinary paperwork.
- Name the main caregiver and a backup for your longest day.
- Plan suitable early outings and a workable appointment journey.
- Budget for grooming and ongoing care as well as the puppy purchase.
When you are ready, use the application to describe your real schedule, home, breed preferences and remaining questions. Review how the Sage process works so your next step is a thoughtful fit conversation.
Current puppies and next steps
These cards use Sage’s shared live availability list. Open the actual puppy profile for current details, then ask about the individual match. If no suitable puppy is listed, the application can begin a conversation about your household and future possibilities.
