Puppy Feeding Mats: Measure the Bowls and the Floor Space
A feeding mat belongs under bowls. Choose one that fits their bases, leaves useful room around them and is easy to lift and clean. A lick mat or snuffle mat serves a different job. Start with the bowl arrangement and the floor space, then choose the mat. Compare the rectangular Gorilla Grip silicone mat with the bone-shaped Loving Pets Bella mat. Bowl-base space inside the raised edge matters more than the Small label or overall length.

Map the bowls before shopping
Measure the bases, including any broad rim or feet. Place the actual bowls where you intend to use them and check that the puppy can reach both comfortably. Decide whether they sit side by side or one behind the other; the required footprint changes with that arrangement.
Compare the arrangement with the mat's flat usable surface, not just its outside dimensions. An edge takes up some space. A mat that barely accommodates two bowl bases may leave little room for scattered kibble or a small splash.
Four measurements to write down
- Bowl footprints: Food bowl base ___; water bowl base ___.
- Chosen gap: Space you want between the two bowls ___.
- Total layout: Combined width ___ and depth ___, including your chosen room around the bowls.
- Available floor area: Clear width ___ and depth ___, with room to approach and lift the mat.
Keep the units consistent. For a side-by-side layout, add the two base widths and your chosen gap, then allow for the surrounding space you want. There is no universal margin that makes every mat suitable; check the real arrangement rather than following an arbitrary extra-inch rule.
Compare these researched products
Gorilla Grip Silicone Feeding Mat - 18.5 x 11.5-inch Gray
The researched selection is the gray 18.5 x 11.5-inch silicone pet feeding mat, with raised grip dots and a shallow raised edge. It is the standard pet mat, not Gorilla Grip's separate higher-edge design, a fabric mat or a cat-litter product. The manufacturer lists it as dishwasher safe.
Pros: Rectangular silicone footprint with raised grip dots and a shallow rim for a compact feeding station.
Cons: The outer dimensions do not guarantee room for your particular bowls. The shallow edge cannot contain every spill. Gorilla Grip warns to place it on a dry floor and keep the underside dry; water beneath can make it slip. Inspect floor compatibility and stop access if the puppy chews it. Sage has not documented a trial.
Choose if: Both bowl bases fit inside the rim with spare space, and you prefer a rectangular silicone mat.
Loving Pets Bella Spill-Proof mat — Small, Black
The researched selection is the Small, Black Bella Spill-Proof mat. Its bone-shaped outline, raised edges, textured surface and anti-skid feet offer a different layout from the rectangular Gorilla Grip mat. Loving Pets specifies rinsing it for cleanup.
Pros: Raised-edge shape and rinse-clean care may suit a feeding station where its bowl layout fits.
Cons: The narrow middle and curved ends limit usable bowl space; length alone will not establish fit. Anti-skid features are not a guarantee on every floor. Lift it, check the floor and dry underneath.
Choose if: Your actual bowl bases fit within the shaped rim and you prefer this outline and cleaning method.

Lift it, clean it and dry underneath
Clean the mat according to its current care instructions, then dry the underside and the floor before replacing it. Lift it to check for trapped water rather than assuming a clean-looking top means the whole area is dry. Check the floor manufacturer's guidance about coverings and moisture.
FDA recommends cleaning pet-food bowls and measuring utensils after use. A mat does not replace that work. If a bowl slides, reassess the bowl base, layout and dry surface; buying a larger mat alone may not solve the problem.
Quick questions
Is this the same as a lick mat? No. This mat sits under bowls. Enrichment mats hold food on or in their own textured surfaces.
Can I order by the bowl capacity? Capacity does not establish base width or spacing. Measure the bowls and their actual layout.
Can the mat stay on a damp floor? Follow the manufacturer's dry-floor warning. Lift it, clean and dry both surfaces before replacing it.
