# Bringing a Puppy Home to Wyoming from Utah

Plan a Wyoming homecoming around the particular puppy, the correct entry paperwork and the household receiving it. Confirm those details before booking travel, then leave room for the puppy’s readiness, weather or the agreed handoff date to change.

Sage Puppies is Cassie Milar’s South Jordan, Utah program, offering Havanese, Havapoo and Cavapoo puppies. Review the [current profiles](https://sagepuppies.com/available-puppies/)
 and [pricing and reservation details](https://sagepuppies.com/pricing-reservation/)
. General purchase pricing is $3,500–$4,500. Confirm the individual price; travel, ongoing care and guardian arrangements are separate.

## Confirm the puppy and handoff before booking

Ask Cassie about the individual puppy’s development and readiness, then confirm the actual travel arrangement. Review [delivery and pickup information](https://sagepuppies.com/delivery-pickup/)
and agree on the method, handoff location, date, costs and each person’s responsibilities. Discuss how a delay affects the plan before making nonrefundable bookings.

For South Jordan pickup, ask what the appointment includes, which records will be ready and what supplies you need to bring. If another arrangement is being considered, confirm the actual provider and conditions individually. A location guide cannot establish an available route, transport credential or guaranteed arrival time.

## Use the Wyoming entry category that fits this placement

The [Wyoming Livestock Board’s dog-entry page](https://wlsb.state.wy.us/import-rules/dogs-cats-ferrets/)
lists separate ownership and purpose categories. Its sale-or-adoption row calls for a certificate of veterinary inspection, or CVI, even under three months of age, and adds current rabies proof at three months and older. The normal CVI window is 30 days from issuance, subject to State Veterinarian orders and applicable conditions.

Give the accredited veterinarian the actual birth date, ownership details, destination and movement date. Have the veterinarian and Board confirm the category and accepted documents, especially near an age cutoff. Review the Board’s [current New World Screwworm response](https://wlsb.state.wy.us/animal-health/diseases/new-world-screwworm/)
for any relevant origin, zone or travel history. Recheck when those details change. A new placement should not automatically use the existing-pet travel exception.

## Keep records and written terms together

Request the puppy’s identifying details, examination record, vaccination and deworming history, current food and feeding instructions. Ask when the records will be available and what follow-up is due. Bring the file to the Wyoming veterinarian who will continue care.

Keep parent-screening information, the puppy’s current examination and the purchase agreement distinct. Sage’s [health-testing overview](https://sagepuppies.com/about/health-testing/)
helps start the records conversation. Read any written health terms for covered conditions, exclusions, buyer duties, examination deadlines and remedies. Resolve questions about the actual agreement before paying; veterinary travel paperwork is not a lifetime-health promise.

## Plan the actual drive and a secured travel setup

Use [WYDOT’s road information](https://www.dot.state.wy.us/home/news_info/road--travel-information.html)
and its official [Wyoming 511 portal](https://www.wyoroad.info/)
for your route. Check closures and wind restrictions, obey gates and signs, and separately confirm access to the receiving property. Do not assume a smaller road is a suitable detour around a closure.

WYDOT’s [winter travel guidance](https://dot.state.wy.us/home/travel/winter.html)
explains why vehicle preparation and fresh road checks matter in Wyoming’s changing conditions. The [AVMA’s travel guidance](https://avma.org/PetWeek)
also calls for advance coordination and proper restraint. Ask your veterinarian and equipment manufacturer about an appropriate secured setup. Agree on food, water and breaks for the individual puppy instead of following a universal interval or changing feeding on your own.

## Make the first evening easy to manage

Prepare a quiet indoor base, the agreed food and a practical route to a secure potty area. Assign who handles the puppy and who manages bags, doors and records. Keep introductions manageable and allow undisturbed rest. Follow the care routine discussed at handoff and ask your veterinarian about any needed changes.

Arrange routine and after-hours veterinary contacts before arrival. Medical concerns need veterinary attention. Ask Cassie which channel to use for program or transition questions and what response availability to expect. Put those contacts where another caregiver can find them, rather than depending on an assumed immediate reply.

## Prepare a backup plan before you apply

[Wyoming’s pet-preparedness guidance](https://hls.wyo.gov/being-prepared/pet-preparedness)
recommends accessible supplies and records, current identification and photos, a backup caregiver and accommodation confirmed to accept pets. Your county coordinator can explain local pet-sheltering plans. Confirm the actual arrangement instead of assuming a hotel or emergency shelter will admit a puppy.

Give the backup adult access to the care instructions and contacts, and budget for delays as well as ongoing care. Use the [Wyoming household guide](https://sagepuppies.com/8-best-places-to-find-puppies-for-sale-in-wyoming/)
to revisit fit, review [the placement process](https://sagepuppies.com/our-program/how-it-works/)
 and [apply with your details](https://sagepuppies.com/application/)
. Approval, a reservation and travel arrangements require individual confirmation.
