# Puppies for Sale in Florida: What Buyers Should Check First

Start with the puppy’s records and the daily life you can offer. A Florida listing, attractive photograph or reassuring promise cannot answer those questions by itself. If you live in Miami, your building’s rules, the trip outside and a storm backup plan deserve attention before you reserve a puppy.

**Considering Sage Puppies?** Sage Puppies is Cassie Milar’s program in South Jordan, Utah, offering Havanese, Havapoo and Cavapoo. General puppy purchase pricing is $3,500–$4,500; check the individual puppy’s current details and ask about any separate travel arrangements. Begin with [Available Puppies](https://sagepuppies.com/available-puppies/)
 and our [program background](https://sagepuppies.com/about/)
. Sage does not have a Florida facility.

## What to check with any puppy seller

Ask who raised the puppy, where the puppy is now and who will answer questions after homecoming. Request a current conversation about that individual puppy’s temperament, routine and needs. A breed label or “vet checked” phrase is a starting point for questions, not a substitute for the underlying records.

- Review the puppy’s dated veterinary records with your own veterinarian. Ask what parent health evaluations were performed, who performed them and which actual results you can review.
- Read the written agreement before payment. Clarify the puppy’s identity, purchase price, deposit terms, included services, any separate travel costs and the process for a concern after homecoming.
- Confirm the recipient and payment instructions through the seller’s established contact route. Pause if the puppy, price or terms change, or if you are pressured to pay before your questions are answered.
- Plan the first veterinary visit and ask your veterinarian about outings, parasite prevention and the puppy’s age-specific care. This guide does not replace that individual advice.

For more statewide context, read our [Florida buyer guide](https://sagepuppies.com/florida-puppies-for-sale-how-to-narrow-your-puppy-search/)
. Verify the seller’s actual location rather than assuming a Florida search result means the puppy is nearby.

## Miami puppy checklist: plan around your actual address

The City of Miami, Miami Beach and other Miami-Dade municipalities are different places. Use your real home address when checking county services, municipal rules, building permissions and evacuation information. The checklist below is for preparing a Miami-area home; it does not imply Sage has local premises or a regular delivery route.

### 1. Walk the building-to-outdoors route

Get your landlord’s or association’s current pet rules in writing. Ask about pet limits, deposits or fees, size or breed restrictions, elevators and shared areas. Check balcony gaps, door closers and the space where a puppy can rest away from visitors.

Then walk the actual route from the puppy’s sleeping area to the planned toilet spot. Include the elevator wait, lobby doors and busy pavement. Decide which adult can make that trip during the workday and at night. A small puppy and a high-rise address still need a workable daily care plan.

Choose a sheltered backup for heavy rain, identify a comfortable indoor rest area and plan short outdoor trips around current conditions. Ask your veterinarian which surfaces and shared dog areas are appropriate for your puppy’s age and records before using them.

### 2. Check the county license and your transport plan

Miami-Dade County says dogs over four months old must be licensed and wear a license tag. Its [dog-license page](https://www.miamidade.gov/global/animals/services/dog-licenses.page)
explains the current process and rabies-document requirements. Check the county’s instructions for your dog rather than relying on a seller’s generic checklist.

If Metrorail is part of your plan, the county permits small domestic pets in enclosed carriers subject to its safety and access rules. The carrier must not obstruct others, and it must be secured on escalators. Read the current [Metrorail pet rules](https://www.miamidade.gov/global/transportation/metrorail.page)
and confirm the rules for every other service you intend to use.

Practise calm carrier time before a necessary journey. Check that the puppy can be comfortably contained and that one adult can manage the carrier, doors and any other bags. Keep a separate backup for veterinary transport; do not assume a bus, train, rideshare or airline will accept your dog under identical rules.

### 3. Make the storm plan before homecoming

Use Miami-Dade’s [hurricane-preparedness guidance](https://www.miamidade.gov/global/emergency/hurricane/home.page)
to check your address’s storm-surge planning zone and prepare evacuation options. Arrange a destination that can accept both the household and the dog. Confirm its current pet policy, required records and transport plan in advance.

Keep identification details, veterinary contacts, records, food, water, medication instructions and a carrier or crate together in your household plan. County pet-friendly evacuation centers have their own instructions and operating conditions; check current announcements before depending on one. A listing on a preparedness page is not a reservation or a guarantee of admission.

### 4. Name the receiving and backup adults

Choose who will be home for the puppy’s arrival, meals, toilet trips and settling time. Give a backup adult the routine and your veterinarian’s contact details. If work, travel or a storm changes the plan, agree who can take over and where the puppy can safely stay.

These practical details help distinguish “a puppy could fit our apartment” from “we can meet this puppy’s needs every day.” Use them in your conversation with the breeder before selecting an individual dog.

## Compare Havanese, Havapoo and Cavapoo thoughtfully

Start with the individual puppy, the parents’ information and the care routine you can maintain. Coat, adult size, temperament and time alone can vary; no breed name guarantees an allergy outcome or effortless apartment living.

- [Havanese](https://sagepuppies.com/breeds/havanese/) : discuss the puppy’s social routine, grooming needs and how your household will build comfortable alone time.
- [Havapoo](https://sagepuppies.com/breeds/havapoo/) : ask about the parents, expected size range and coat-care needs rather than assuming every Havanese–Poodle mix will be the same.
- [Cavapoo](https://sagepuppies.com/breeds/cavapoo/) : review the parents’ health information and the puppy’s needs with the breeder and your veterinarian; plan for companionship, grooming and everyday care.

## Arrange Florida homecoming before you commit

If a puppy is entering Florida from another state, start with the current [Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services dog-movement requirements](https://www.fdacs.gov/Consumer-Resources/Animals/Animal-Movement/Dog-and-Cat-Movement-Requirements)
. Ask the seller and veterinarian to confirm the applicable requirements for the puppy’s actual age, origin, purpose of movement and travel date. Do not assume one document or rule covers every situation.

Confirm the handoff location, responsible adults, records, carrier requirements, timing and any separate costs in writing. Ask the transport provider about its own current requirements. A past placement in Florida does not establish that a particular puppy, date or route is available now.

## A simple first-week plan

- Set up a quiet rest area, secure doors and remove reachable hazards before arrival.
- Keep the breeder’s current food and routine information ready; discuss any changes with your veterinarian.
- Give every adult the same plan for meals, toilet trips, rest and supervision.
- Keep introductions manageable and ask your veterinarian when and where the puppy can safely explore.
- Record questions for the breeder and veterinarian instead of guessing from general internet advice.

## Find the right next step

Review [current available puppies](https://sagepuppies.com/available-puppies/)
, read about [Sage Puppies and Cassie’s program](https://sagepuppies.com/about/)
, and use the [puppy application](https://sagepuppies.com/application/)
when you are ready to describe your household. Ask Sage directly about the individual puppy, current price, records and possible homecoming arrangements before making plans.
