# Comparing Puppy Temperament for a Kansas Home

A puppy’s behaviour matters most in the context of your real day. For a Kansas apartment, a suburban household or an acreage home, useful questions concern the individual puppy’s ordinary responses and the care your family can provide.

Sage Puppies is Cassie Milar’s South Jordan, Utah program offering Havanese, Havapoo and Cavapoo puppies. Use [current listings](https://sagepuppies.com/available-puppies/)
 and [Our Program](https://sagepuppies.com/our-program/)
to start a conversation about the puppy you are considering.

Sage’s general puppy purchase range is **$3,500–$4,500**. Confirm the puppy’s exact price with Cassie; guardian arrangements and travel costs are separate. Review [Pricing & Reservation](https://sagepuppies.com/pricing-reservation/)
 and [How It Works](https://sagepuppies.com/our-program/how-it-works/)
 before committing.

## Ask for ordinary observations across several situations

Request recent examples from play, rest, gentle handling and company. Ask when the observation happened and what support the puppy needed. A lively play session and a quiet moment after a nap show different circumstances; avoid treating one clip as the whole picture.

- During play: what interests the puppy, and what happens when play ends?
- During rest: where does the puppy settle, and does someone need to help?
- During gentle handling: what does the puppy accept comfortably, and what needs gradual practice?
- Around people and other puppies: does the puppy approach, watch first or move away? What changes with familiar company?

The [American College of Veterinary Behaviorists’ choosing-a-dog handout](https://cdn.ymaws.com/dacvb.site-ym.com/resource/resmgr/docs/Tip3-Choosing_the_right_dog.pdf)
encourages families to compare expectations, lifestyle and individual traits. Behaviour can change as a puppy develops. Use the seller’s observations to discuss support and fit, and seek professional help when a concern needs assessment.

## Describe the Kansas home you actually have

In an apartment or shared building, explain hallway traffic, entrances, stairs or lifts and the route to a permitted toileting area. Confirm building rules and who will accompany the puppy on each trip. A response to a familiar room does not tell you how the puppy will handle your hallway.

For an acreage home, describe chores, open gates, driveways, equipment, livestock and resident dogs. Identify a secure supervised area and the person responsible while others are working. Land area alone says little about the puppy’s daily company, rest or safety.

For either setting, compare [Havanese](https://sagepuppies.com/havanese/)
, [Havapoo](https://sagepuppies.com/havapoo/)
 and [Cavapoo](https://sagepuppies.com/cavapoo/)
while keeping the individual puppy in view. Discuss coat care, your grooming arrangements and time apart from family. Ask Cassie what is directly known about the puppy’s routine and what your household will need to introduce gradually.

## Prepare before arrival, then practise gently

Arrange caregivers, food instructions, veterinary follow-up, sleeping space and secure toileting before homecoming. After arrival, introduce new experiences in short, comfortable sessions at the puppy’s pace. Give the puppy opportunities to rest and stop an exercise if it becomes overwhelming.

The [American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior’s current training position](https://avsab.org/resources/position-statements/)
supports reward-based training. Do not frighten, restrain or force a puppy to see whether it “passes” a temperament test. Ask your veterinarian or a qualified behaviour professional for help with persistent distress or handling concerns.

## Include a calm household weather rehearsal

Set up the household plan described in the [Kansas buyer guide’s preparation section](https://sagepuppies.com/8-best-places-to-find-puppies-for-sale-in-kansas/#home-preparation)
. On a calm day, practise a brief, rewarded carrier routine and a quiet move to your planned safe space. The [NWS Kansas City regional shelter guidance](https://www.weather.gov/eax/stormanxiety-shelter)
recommends advance preparation; check your own county forecast and property arrangements.

Carrier practice is a learning exercise. It cannot establish that a puppy will cope with every storm, journey or unfamiliar place. Discuss difficulties early and adjust the plan with appropriate help.

## Use your answers to make the next decision

Write down the puppy’s observed needs beside your household’s schedule: who provides company, who handles care and which situations require gradual introductions. If those needs exceed what your family can provide now, reconsider the timing or the individual match.

, then [start your application](https://sagepuppies.com/application/)
