# Checking an Online Puppy Breeder from Kentucky

An online Kentucky puppy search can return sellers in many states. Before paying, establish who raises the puppy, where it lives and which records support the listing. Sage Puppies is Cassie Milar’s South Jordan, Utah program, offering Havanese, Havapoo and Cavapoo. Evaluate a Utah-origin placement as an interstate arrangement.

Sage’s general puppy purchase range is **$3,500–$4,500**. Confirm the puppy’s exact price with Cassie; guardian arrangements and travel costs are separate. Review [Pricing & Reservation](https://sagepuppies.com/pricing-reservation/)
 and [How It Works](https://sagepuppies.com/our-program/how-it-works/)
 before committing.

## Create one record for the seller and puppy

Write down the person’s name, program name, actual raising location, puppy name or identifier and the listing URL. Ask how that identity will appear in the agreement and care records. A listing described as “near Kentucky” does not confirm a Kentucky address.

Request a current live introduction when arranging a remote discussion. Ask the seller to show the individual puppy and answer questions about its daily routine. Compare that information with current photos and records. A live call can help check consistency; it does not prove health or predict behaviour.

## Separate parent results from puppy care

Ask which parent health screenings are claimed, the parents’ registered names or identifiers, the dates and the issuing laboratory or registry. Request legible results. [OFA advises buyers](https://ofa.org/prospective-owners/interview-breeders/)
to verify claimed OFA certifications through its own database. Ask a veterinarian to help interpret results and their relevance to the puppy; a broad “health-tested” label is insufficient.

The puppy’s examination, vaccination and other care records describe that puppy’s care. They are not a replacement for parent screening results, and a CVI has a separate travel purpose. This guide does not certify specific Sage test results. Ask Cassie for the records relevant to the puppy you are considering.

One parent being elsewhere does not, by itself, establish a problem. Ask how the pairing was selected and how that parent’s identity and results can be checked.

## Ask about upbringing and references

Discuss where the litter sleeps, how handling and household sounds are introduced, what the puppy does during a normal day, and what needs more practice. Share your actual home routine. Thoughtful questions in both directions help a breeder assess a placement.

Ask whether previous buyers have consented to act as references. Discuss the reference’s experience with communication and the handover, while respecting privacy. Other families’ contracts, addresses and medical records are not material you need to collect.

## Put the Kentucky handover in writing

- Identify the individual puppy and total purchase terms, including deposit and cancellation provisions.
- Agree on the proposed origin, destination and person responsible at each handover.
- Clarify who obtains current veterinary entry documents and how you receive them.
- Ask how changes, travel charges, care needs and post-arrival questions will be handled.

For a puppy arriving from Utah, use the interstate section of our [Kentucky buyer guide](https://sagepuppies.com/puppies-for-sale-in-kentucky-a-complete-buyers-guide/)
and have the accredited veterinarian check current [KDA requirements](https://www.kyagr.com/statevet/animal-movement.html)
. A friendly sales conversation is not a confirmed journey or service commitment.

## Pause when the evidence does not agree

Changing puppy identities, conflicting locations, unreadable records or unexplained extra charges warrant clarification before payment. Ask a specific question and retain the response. Avoid deciding that a seller is fraudulent solely because a parent is off-site or a particular licence is absent; applicable requirements and the facts matter.

Keep copies of your own listing, messages, invoice and agreement. If you believe a transaction is deceptive, the [Kentucky Attorney General’s consumer protection office](https://www.ag.ky.gov/about/Office-Divisions/OCP/Pages/default.aspx)
provides scam and consumer-complaint routes. Reporting does not promise a refund.

## Move from evidence to household preparation

Once the records and written terms are clear, use the [Kentucky first-week guide](https://sagepuppies.com/kentucky-puppies-for-sale-planning-your-puppys-first-week/)
to prepare your home. Read [Our Program](https://sagepuppies.com/our-program/)
 and [How It Works](https://sagepuppies.com/our-program/how-it-works/)
for Sage’s placement process, then describe your household honestly in the [application](https://sagepuppies.com/application/)
.
