# Vermont Puppy Listings: Availability and Homecoming

A puppy listing can describe an individual available for discussion, a future litter or a directory lead. Check what the label means before planning a journey to your Vermont home, then connect the actual puppy, the receiving adult and a practical backup plan.

Sage Puppies is Cassie Milar’s program in South Jordan, Utah, offering Havanese, Havapoo and Cavapoo puppies. Start with [current listings](https://sagepuppies.com/available-puppies/)
 and [pricing and reservation information](https://sagepuppies.com/pricing-reservation/)
. General puppy purchase pricing is $3,500–$4,500; confirm the individual puppy’s price, timing and any supported travel arrangements with Cassie.

## Ask what an availability label actually means

A current individual profile concerns a particular puppy. A planned litter or waitlist concerns a future possibility. A directory lead points to a separate program whose current situation still needs to be checked. Read the source and date, then speak with the person responsible for the animal.

Ask which puppy you are discussing, what its current status is and which next step is actually supported. A saved search result or an older photo may remain visible after circumstances change. Recheck the individual information when you return to the decision.

For Sage, start with [current listings](https://sagepuppies.com/available-puppies/)
and confirm details with Cassie. Let the conversation establish timing and the actual terms rather than treating an availability label as a reservation.

## Confirm the receiving plan before fixing travel dates

Name the adult who will receive the puppy and the backup who could take over. Agree on the actual handoff, readable records, food and routine notes, and how changes will be communicated. Plan supervision of children and other animals while the receiving adult manages the arrival.

Use the [buyer guide](https://sagepuppies.com/puppies-for-sale-in-vermont-how-to-find-reputable-breeders/)
for household fit and the [program-comparison guide](https://sagepuppies.com/sage-puppies-vs-vermont-breeders-which-offers-healthier-puppies/)
for evidence and Vermont entry questions. Confirm the requirements for the puppy and journey before making travel commitments.

Review [delivery and pickup](https://sagepuppies.com/delivery-and-pickup/)
and ask Cassie what can be supported. A useful plan includes the actual receiving address, a secure setup appropriate to the puppy and a way to reconfirm if timing changes.

## Check regional roads and the last part of the journey

The official [VTrans Road Weather Information Stations page](https://vtrans.vermont.gov/operations/rwis)
 links [New England 511](https://newengland511.org/)
for current road, weather and camera information. Use those live resources when planning and recheck before departure.

Check the final local approach and receiving arrangements separately. Ask the receiving adult about access to the actual address and where the handoff can take place as agreed. A regional highway map cannot resolve a local entrance, a building’s receiving arrangement or caregiver availability.

Keep the option to defer or reconfirm if conditions change. The puppy’s care and a supported handoff should guide the decision rather than a tightly fixed arrival time. Share the update plan with the backup adult so a delay does not become a gap in care.

## Prepare a warm entry and a practical pet kit

[Cornell’s winter safety guidance](https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/riney-canine-health-center/health-info/winter-safety-tips)
supports individualized cold precautions for puppies and small dogs, a warm and dry return, and attention to winter chemicals. Ask the veterinarian about the puppy’s needs, clean off winter residues as appropriate and store chemicals securely. Seek veterinary help when concerned about cold injury or illness.

Vermont Emergency Management’s [preparedness booklet, page 16](https://vem.vermont.gov/sites/demhs/files/emergency-preparedness-assistance.pdf)
, recommends a portable labeled pet kit with a week’s food, bowls and water bottles, restraint or carrier, sanitation supplies, medicines and care instructions, a current photo, bedding and small toys. Keep it accessible to the responsible adult.

Decide where the puppy and caregiver could go if the normal plan stops working. Confirm that a proposed destination can actually accommodate the animal. Share the care instructions and contacts with a backup person rather than assuming emergency accommodation will be available.

## Ask the municipal clerk about licensing your dog

[20 V.S.A. § 3581](https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/20/193/03581)
sets annual municipal licensing by April 1 for dogs more than six months old, with rabies documentation. [Section 3582](https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/20/193/03582)
also addresses an unlicensed dog acquired after April 1 at six months or older, or one becoming six months old after April 1: a license must be obtained within 30 days.

Ask the municipal clerk how the deadlines, documents and current fees apply to the actual dog and home address. Licensing and the veterinarian’s vaccination plan are separate questions; confirm both rather than postponing care to a licensing date.

## Keep one receiving file everyone can use

Keep the current profile and contact, understood terms, readable care and movement documents, food instructions, routine notes and veterinary contacts together. Add the receiving and backup adults, follow-up questions and the municipal-clerk task. Share a one-page responsibility sheet so every caregiver knows what to do.

Ask the receiving veterinarian about follow-up timing and how to reach help if a concern develops. Take program questions to Cassie. Revisit the plan if a document, journey detail or household arrangement changes.

When ready, review [how the program works](https://sagepuppies.com/our-program/how-it-works/)
, open the puppy’s [current listing](https://sagepuppies.com/available-puppies/)
 and complete an accurate [application](https://sagepuppies.com/application/)
. Use the next conversation to confirm arrangements for the particular puppy and household.
